DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Provide to senior horses weighing 1,100 Lbs+ (500kg) at the rate of six (6) ounces (170 grams) per day. Serving size may be reduced proportionately, based on weight, for lighter breeds, ponies, etc. A smaller four (4) ounce serving (114 grams) may also be used in situations where reduced levels of support are more in line with the condition/needs of the hooves, coat, etc.
Introduce the product into diet gradually starting with approximately one (1) ounce (28.4 grams) the first day (about 1/2 scoop). Gradually increase the daily usage rate over the following 7-14 days until the full daily serving is being provided. For more detailed introduction information, see below.
Daily serving may be divided between feedings. For example, the full six ounce serving might be divided and provided in the morning and evening.
The enclosed 1/2 cup scoop will hold approximately two (2) ounces (57 grams) when filled to the 1/2 cup line. Three (3) scoops--filled to the 1/2 cup line--will provide approximately six (6) ounces (170 grams). Please note that the 1/2 cup line is located approximately 1/4" below the lip of the scoop.

DETAILED FEED INSTRUCTIONS
Warning: Absorption of drugs taken simultaneously may be delayed (due to the Fructooligosaccharides).
For best results HorseTech’s Glänzen Senior should be introduced to your horse gradually. For best results, and best acceptance, we recommend that you do not start with the full six ounces (170.25 grams) per day.
It is recommended that you start with about ½ scoop (one ounce, by weight), the first day. From that point gradually increase the daily measure until you are providing the full three scoops (six ounces, by weight), per day. This introductory period may take approximately 10-14 days. As with any change to diet, this introduction process may be extended further for horses with any past history of colic, pickiness.
In relation to many other supplements, HorseTech’s Glänzen Senior has a relatively large daily portion at six (6) ounces per day. Six ounces will contain approximately four (4) ounces of full-fat flaxseed meal. We recommend that you gradually work up to the six ounce per day usage rate as described above. This can be split into two smaller portions if you prefer to provide the product in the morning and evening. The total usage rate should not exceed six ounces (170.25 grams) per day. The enclosed ½ cup scoop will hold approximately two ounces (56.75 grams) when filled to the ½ cup line.
Doubling-up the usage rate initially, (commonly referred to as “loading”) is neither recommended nor advised.
You can adjust the daily usage rate for ponies and lighter breeds in proportion to their weight. For example, a younger horse or a pony weighing 500-600 lbs. might receive approximately three ounces per day (about half that of a 1,000 to 1,200 lb. horse).
Most horses like the aroma and taste of Glänzen Senior. However, if you encounter a problem with acceptance, you may try an enticement such as diced apple, shredded carrot, concentrated apple juice, applesauce, molasses or even a bit of apple cider vinegar. Gradually reduce or remove the enticement once the horse has accepted the product.

PRESERVING FRESHNESS OF MILLED FLAX
If you grind whole flax seeds at home, you may notice that rancidity will begin within a few days if not refrigerated (evidenced by the paint-like aroma). While whole flax seed, on the other hand, is very stable.
Traditional milling processes involved crushing, rolling, burr mills and hammer mills - as their names suggest, all these methods are very aggressive, creating heat from the friction and rupturing the fat cells within the flax. Thus the flax is destabilized and the released fat/oil rapidly leads to rancidity.
HorseTech uses a Micronized milling process with their flax, which uses low temperature and a high speed cutter that SLICES the seeds so the fat remains intact within the meal.
Seed selection is also important as green seeds are prone to spoilage - and these are removed before milling.
The result is a milled flax that has not been damaged by heat and the fat cells haven't been ruptured, thus it is stable at room temperature, similar to whole flaxseed, for 2 years.
